INTRO

Do you have experience in the smart building domain and want to help drive the energy transition? Spectral, a system integration and smart energy services company in Amsterdam, is looking for a full-time Smart Building Control Architect to join the existing engineering team. If you can bring talent and enthusiasm, we can offer the opportunity to be a part of a game-changing team working on exciting projects (and products) for smart buildings, smart communities, and energy control systems.

ABOUT SPECTRAL

Spectral develops technical solutions that help propel the evolution of smart energy networks. We are involved across the whole grid, whether it’s a community, building, energy farm, neighborhood, or all at the same time! Some areas we focus on include: improving asset efficiency, unlocking the value of energy storage, facilitating demand flexibility, and locally produced renewable energy. All to propel the evolution of smart energy networks and accelerate the global transition towards a 100% renewable, clean energy supply. We believe that one of the most urgent issues is to solve the challenges for providing for our energy needs in a sustainable way. You can find out more about Spectral’s mission and the team that you would be joining here.

ABOUT THE SMART BUILDING PLATFORM

Spectral’s Smart Building Platform provides clients with deep insights into the performance of their real estate assets. The platform consists of powerful data analytics tools, AI-driven forecasting, and smart control systems. The SBP optimizes the energy efficiency of a building’s HVAC system while improving tenants’ comfort levels. The SBP is already deployed in numerous commercial buildings where data is being drawn from multiple sources. Those sources include Spectral’s in-house developed sensor clusters which measure real-time climate conditions and occupancy levels, as well as external APIs (e.g. for weather data), local building management systems, and energy sub-meters. Using these diverse data streams we effectively train machine-learning algorithms and apply advanced model predictive control strategies to continuously improve our smart building control functionalities. Our team is working together to further mature and scale the SBP in order to drive impact in the built environment even further, rapidly reduce the environmental footprint of buildings, and help our clients achieve their ambitious sustainability goals.

YOUR ROLE

As our new Smart Building Control Architect, you will work mostly on improving and perfecting our control algorithms.

  • Collaborate with our control team on the development and refinement of scalable (data-driven) calibrated thermal building models
  • Help us develop and implement advanced HVAC control strategies for energy and comfort optimization
  • Support our software team with the calibration of the developed models, generation of performance assessment and further improvement of the HVAC control strategies
  • Perform energy audits and functional performance tests of building engineering systems
  • Cooperate with a hardware team on creating environmental sensing packages and toolkits for building retro-commissioning services
  • Contribute to the development of new product features, such as anomaly detection systems and building performance benchmarking tools
  • Assist our software team in deploying and testing new features for Smart Building Platform

YOUR PROFILE
